As the owner of Integrative Massage Therapy, I believe that medical massage is an excellent alternative and adjunct to other therapies. I'm a professional, experienced NYS licensed Massage Therapist, and a New York State Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) with a special focus and interest in Pain & Rehabilitative Massage Therapy. I'm devoted to provide excellent care, motivate and educate each client to help attain their goals. Maike has extensive post-graduate education and experience in this field for over 19 years. As a medical massage specialist, I work with local neurosurgeons, Neurologists, Orthopedic surgeons, Physiatrist, Rheumatologists, Chiropractors, and Physical Therapists. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, I have provided rehabilitative care to many patients in Orthopedic Physical Therapy Out-Patient clinics, Post-Operative and Neuro-Rehabilitation clinics including Aquatic Physical Therapy. In addition to medical Massage, I provide Pre and Post event Sports Massage to athletes, Deep Tissue Massage, MRT(Muscle Release Therapy), realignment Therapy, Myofascial Release/Therapy, CranioSacral Therapy, and Relaxation massage. I also have received extensive post graduate training in Medical/Orthopedic Massage techniques including Muscle Energy Techniques, PNF techniques, CranioSacral Therapy, Myofascial Release/Therapy, Neuromuscular Therapy(Triggerpoint Therapy, Joint Mobilization (Soft tissue technique), Functional joint mobilization. Strain Counter Strain Technique, Muscle Release Techniques, and many different stretching techniques. In addition to medical massage I provide a stretching program that is specifically designed for each client. My educaton is constantly advancing through research and the development of new techniques to help improve my client's health.
In addition to the above, I have successfully developed and managed a medical massage business located in a neuro surgeon's office. I have also provided weekend, and 1-2 hour workshops to area massage therapists.

When seeking medical massage services it is important to check if your therapist has received post-graduate certifications in medical massage to ensure that your interests are being protected. 1. Is the massage therapist licensed in your state. New York State requires that massage therapists be licensed by the NYS Board of Education.
2. Is the massage therapist a holder of a liability and professional insurance policy?
3. Is the massage therapist affiliated with a recognized massage therapy association such as the ABMP (American Bodywork & Massage Professionals)?
4. Does the massage therapist participate in post-graduate medical massage studies and has certifications in this field?
5. Is the massage therapist willing to work closely with your referring physician?
